Art at The Mill

Artists have been drawn to Bear’s Mill’s antique artistry and idyllic setting for generations, many times using the building itself and the surrounding grounds for inspiration. In celebration of artistic inspiration and the talent of local artists, we have transformed part of the Mill’s first floor into a gallery space that features one curated show per month from March through December. Each show features two artists, one 2-D and one 3-D artist whose works compliment each other. Featured artwork includes paintings, photography, drawings, etchings, mixed media, textiles, clay works, and sculptures from many media.

Receptions are usually held on the final Friday of each month (March through November) however this year there are a couple of variations so be sure to check the schedule carefully for the reception date. Our receptions are open to the public, and are a great way to socialize, meet the artists, snack on spectacular, locally produced food and enjoy an evening of culture and creative expression in this natural, historic setting. During the receptions at 7:00 pm, the artists talk about their inspirations and how they create and express themselves through their art.

Ninety percent of the art shown in the Mill Gallery is available for purchase.  The Mill Store and Gallery provide vital income necessary to keep the wheels turning at Bear’s Mill. When you make a purchase you are contributing to the Mission of the Friend’s of Bear’s Mill, to preserve the Mill’s historical significance and keep the Mill open for all to enjoy.
